Meet William

The person behind Star City AI Assistant. Builder, technologist, father, and your neighbor in the Roanoke Valley.

The Same Conversation, Over and Over

I'm William Alexander, and I started Star City AI Assistant because I kept having the same conversation. A friend would ask me about ChatGPT over dinner. A family member would call about some AI tool they saw on the news. A local business owner would pull me aside at a networking event and say, "I know I should be doing something with AI, but I have no idea where to start."

Every time, I'd sit down with them, ask about their work, and within an hour we'd find two or three ways AI could save them real time. The tools are powerful. The gap isn't the technology. It's having someone who can translate it into language that makes sense for your specific situation.

I realized Roanoke needed someone doing this full time. Not a remote consultant sending slide decks from San Francisco. Someone local, someone who knows the community, someone you can sit across from at a coffee shop. So I made it official.

How I Work

These aren't marketing promises. They're commitments I keep with every person I work with.

Plain Language

No jargon, no buzzwords. If I can't explain it over coffee, I won't put it in your plan.

No Contracts

Every engagement starts with a free conversation. If AI can't help you, I'll tell you that too.

Results First

I measure success in hours saved and problems solved, not features shipped.

A Builder, Not a Theorist

I'm a technologist with deep roots in web development, systems thinking, and making technology accessible to the people who actually use it. I've spent years building digital solutions for organizations of all sizes, from small businesses to large institutions.

I'm not a career AI researcher. I'm a practitioner who's been building with these tools since day one. I know what works in the real world because I use it in the real world. And I know how to translate what's possible into something that makes sense for your specific workflow.

I also make music, build systems, and chase creative problems wherever they show up. That same instinct to build, to tinker, to figure out how things work and make them better, is what drives this business.

Rooted in Roanoke

I live in the Cave Spring area with my family. My kids go to school here. I shop at the same stores you do, eat at the same restaurants, and care about the same community. This isn't a side project I'm running from somewhere else. Roanoke is home.

The national AI conversation tends to focus on enterprise-scale solutions and Silicon Valley startups. That's fine for them. I'm here for the accountant on Campbell Avenue, the bakery on Market Square, the nonprofit doing the quiet work that holds our community together. When the people in our city work smarter, the whole valley benefits.

Want to See If We're a Good Fit?

The best way to find out is a quick, free conversation. No pitch, no commitment. Just two people talking about how AI might help your work.
